We loved the fun tie-dye shirts!

Richfield Police and Fire Safety Day is a special summer event for children who will be entering the 4th grade in the fall. Students learn fire, bike, electrical and personal safety, basic first aid, hands-only CPR, and bullying prevention, all while being mentored by firefighters and police officers. BikeMN’s Walk! Bike! Fun! team was glad to participate yesterday at Richfield STEM School (R-STEM). The team led a bike safety class for the elementary school students, reviewing safety techniques on the bike, helmet use, rules of the road, and thing to check on a bike before riding.

Over fifteen students sit on tables or on the floor and listen to Angela, who is standing at the front of the classroom. A bright yellow bike is on the right side of the photo.

During COVID-19, Walk! Bike! Fun! adapted our curriculum for distance learning, including offering worksheets and lessons for students, caregivers, and families. Can you name all of the parts of a bicycle? Can you draw a bicycle from memory? It’s harder than it looks, and it can be a fun way to learn about bikes and bike safety this summer.
