Attend a Training
Walk! Bike! Fun! encourages children to walk or bike to school and throughout the community by providing educators with tools to teach them safe walking and biking.
Training for teachers, educators, parents and volunteers with the Walk! Bike! Fun! education team is available through various opportunities, including WBF Curriculum training, WBF Ambassadors, and WBF basic bicycle maintenance.
Thinking about attending? Here’s what educators can expect
Students will engage in thoughtful, fun and interactive lessons to learn safety tips and skills that will last them a lifetime.
- This is a free training
- Teachers receive their own copy of the curriculum
- Trainings include both classroom and on-bike instruction.
- Completion of parts one, two and three earnsteachers 7 Continuing Education Credits
- A $100 stipend to each school per participant to offset the cost of substitute teachers on training days (limit 5 per training).
- Trained educators are eligible for ongoing support, including complimentary use of the BikeMN bike fleet with helmets and access to “check out” bikes from BikeMN’s Adaptive Bike Library.
Walk! Bike! Fun! Trainings
Educator Training Are Provided in 2 Parts
Part One
Part one is a 2 to 3 hour online, self-paced training and contains learning about Safe Routes to School, Equity and Justice, overview of the curriculum and a deep dive into rules of the road. There are videos, quizzes, discussion questions and time for reflection.
Part Two
Part two is an in-person, on-bike training for approximately 5 hours where teachers and educators teach and practice activities from the curriculum.
Become a Walk! Bike! Fun! Ambassador
Walk! Bike! Fun! Ambassadors is a training program and educational resource specifically for community members, parents and volunteers who want to lead and help out with walking and biking initiatives for youth in their community.
Participants receive the Ambassadors Guide which includes worksheets, flash cards, leader guides, sample forms and more. This 3 to 4 hour training gives participants a general overview of walking and biking activities and a deep dive into specific activities such as:
- Walking School Bus
- Bike Trains
- Bus Stop and Walk / Remote Drop Off
- Assembly presentations
- Bike Rodeos
- Biking and walking mapping
Get Trained in Bike Maintenance
This basic bike maintenance training session is for Walk!Bike!Fun! Educators and Ambassadors alike.
The training provides instruction and hands-on application on diagnosing and performing common adjustments and repairs, including flat tires, braking and shifting systems.

Get Started by Attending a Training
The Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota (BikeMN) hosts local and online trainings for the Minnesota Walk! Bike! Fun! Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Curriculum.
BikeMN is excited to include an Adaptive Toolkit, Tips to Differentiated Learning, Activity Adaptations, and Learn to Ride lessons into the curriculum. Educators will find tips and tools to adapt walking and biking for students of all abilities. This curriculum is designed for Special Education teachers, DAPE and physical education teachers, health teachers, regular classroom teachers, other educators, as well as community members. This curriculum meets MN Physical Education Standards and Benchmarks. Sign up or apply for a training below.
Apply to Host a Walk! Bike! Fun! – Part 2 training
By submitting this application you are expressing interest that as a host you will help coordinate with the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota a successful date, assist in locating a suitable facility for the training, and help coordinate logistics for set-up. Hosts identify and invite stakeholders to the training, and may be identified as a follow-up contact.
Note: Completion of this application does not guarantee your community will be selected to host a training – selection is competitive and based on an internal scoring scale. The Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota reserves the right to select communities based on identified needs, engagement, and geographic distribution.
